California Highway Patrol Awards Contract to Redesign their Start Smart Mobile App for iOS and Android

California Highway Patrol (CHP) chose Expanded Apps through a competitive procurement process to update and redesign their Start Smart mobile app for iOS and Android.  The Start Smart program is aimed at helping newly licensed- or soon to be licensed- teenage drivers (15-19) become more aware of the responsibilities that accompany the privilege of being a licensed California driver.  The mobile app serves as a complement to the Start Smart program–it includes a handy checklist detailing the steps required to become a licensed California driver, a trip logger to track driving hours required to obtain a license, a CHP office locator, and details on the Start Smart program.

California Debt and Investment Advisory Commission (CDIAC) Awards Contract to Build Progressive Web App

CDIAC, an advisory arm of the California State Treasurer’s Office awarded a software development contract to Expanded Apps to design and develop an interactive, progressive web application to be used by state and local public agencies and other professionals involved in the practice of public finance in California.  The mission for Expanded Apps is to adapt CDIAC’s 500-page Financing Guide, the definitive resource for public finance in California, into an interactive web application that’s easy to consume and navigate.  Expanded Apps’ depth of experience at the crossroads of publishing and interactive content and software development perfectly suited the company to take on this project.   With the transformation of content from books to digital platforms users now require innovative approaches to complex content enabling them to quickly zero in and understand specific topic areas of interest to them. CDIAC’s application includes novel multi-reference pop-ups with links to locations within and outside the document, bookmarks, three color highlights, pop-up glossary terms, notes, footnotes, and accessibility for the impaired.

Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) Renews Expanded Apps’ Maintenance Agreement

OCTA has renewed for the third time, its maintenance agreement with Expanded Apps to update and maintain its Vanpool mobile app for iOS and Android, originally developed and launched in 2016.

California Highway Patrol Awards iOS & Android Contract

California Highway Patrol awarded a mobile development contract to Expanded Apps to update its existing Start Smart application on iOS and to develop an Android version. The new versions on both platforms include new Trip History functionality which will allow teen drivers to track each trip’s duration, average and top speed, and distance traveled.

These apps are used by Vanpool administrators throughout Orange County, CA to track expenses and ridership by members of Vanpool programs in the County. Data entered by riders is sent to the US Department of Transportation which offers monthly stipends to users based on usage.

New Contract to Develop iOS, Android, & Web Elderly Care App

Expanded Apps was awarded a contract to design and build an iOS, Android, and web-based elderly care app. The app will be used to facilitate and coordinate communication surrounding the care and needs of a loved one between family members, healthcare providers, caregivers, and a care facility. The app will be HIPAA compliant so that physicians may easily send messages through the app directly to their patient and HIPAA-approved family members. Family members both near and far from their loved one will be able to more fully participate in the day to day activities and needs of their family member and will always be kept up to date on their condition.

Sole Source Contract Awarded to Mobile App Developer Los Angeles

Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) has awarded a sole-source maintenance contract to Expanded Apps, mobile app developer Los Angeles. Expanded Apps was originally awarded a contract by OCTA in April 2015 to develop two mobile apps — one for iOS and one for Android for their county-wide Vanpool program. This new contract will cover ongoing maintenance and updates for both apps. The iOS and Android Vanpool apps were successfully delivered in late 2015 and are due to be released for use by Orange County Vanpool riders in early 2016.

Elementary School Mobile App Contract Awarded

Expanded Apps was awarded a contract to develop an elementary school mobile app to coordinate child pick ups for parents and school administrators. Expanded Apps will develop an iOS app as well as a web-based admin and backend database to help school administrators and parents communicate more easily and efficiently and enable a higher level of security to assure children are safe when they leave the school grounds. The app will be used first for testing with parents and children who attend the Hollywood Schoolhouse, in Hollywood, CA. A rollout to other private elementary and middle schools in the Los Angeles area will follow.

Contract Awarded for iOS App, Website, and Administrative Tools

Expanded Apps was awarded a contract by Counterpointing, Inc. to develop their iOS app, mobile responsive website, and backend administrative website. The backend engine will use machine learning technology to filter daily news stories from various news outlets that have opposing points of view. Daily postings on the site will allow users to better judge news sources and recognize their biases, by presenting news in a point/counterpoint format.

Start Smart Program Mobile App Contract Awarded by California Highway Patrol

Expanded Apps Awarded GuideVue, Inc. Website Redesign Contract

Expanded Apps was awarded a contract by GuideVue Inc. on August 8, 2015 to develop a new sales driven website for the company. The GuideVue project includes a complete user experience redesign for the front end of the website. Responsibilities include redesigning the user interface and rewriting all of the text to more easily attract potential customers and better explain the GuideVue technology. Expanded Apps is also responsible for developing new backend technology incorporating the latest software to assure the site is highly responsive and mobile friendly. GuideVue meets mission critical needs of organizations to improve employee productivity by quickly developing, publishing, and monitoring use of job-aid apps.

Expanded Apps Awarded Vanpool App Contract

Expanded Apps was awarded a one year contract on April 15, 2015 by the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) to develop two mobile apps (iOS and Android) for OCTA’s vanpool program. The apps will be used by Vanpool drivers, passengers, and program administrators to track daily usage and expenses, chat with other Vanpool members, and automatically report monthly stipend eligibility to OCTA and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). The Vanpool California program offers incentives from DOT through CalTrans to encourage employees to use alternate means of transportation when commuting to and from work.
